Governments of Canada Invests in the Albert Agricultural Society

April 9, 2010 - Riverside-Albert, New Brunswick - Future visitors to the Albert County Exhibition will have a roof over their head thanks to funding support provided by the Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick. The announcement was made today by the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism.

"Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, our government is taking action to stimulate the economy, create and sustain jobs and support communities and industries growth," said Minister Moore. "Our government's investment will allow the Albert Agricultural Society to make important improvements to the existing exhibition grounds and show ring."

These investments will allow the Albert Agricultural Society to construct a roof over the existing exhibition grounds and show ring. The custom designed roof structure will cover the entire show ring and include covered bleachers and an office and announcer's booth. The Government of Canada is investing $402,000 toward the project under CAF, a key federal economic stimulus initiative under the Economic Action Plan. The Province of New Brunswick is providing $126,500 through the Regional Development Corporation while the Albert Agricultural Society is contributing $18,887.

Canada's Economic Action Plan is providing a total of $1 billion over two years through CAF to support initiatives that help create and maintain jobs in communities and industries impacted by the economic downturn. Atlantic Canada's allocation of $100 million under CAF is administered by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
